Project Meeting and Workshop “How to Train the AI Chatbot” Bring Together ChatToCaseStudy Partners in Riga

On 2–3 July 2026, Riga Technical University (RTU), Latvia hosted a two-day international project meeting of the partners of the ChatToCaseStudy – Learn by Case Study using AI Chatbot in Cybersecurity and Data Science project (Project No. 2024-1-BG01-KA220-HED-000249361). The event brought together consortium partners: Technical University of Sofia (project coordinator), Riga Technical University (Latvia), University of Aveiro (Portugal), Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” (Bulgaria), Democritus University of Thrace (Greece), and Acta Consulting Ltd. (Bulgaria).

As part of the first day, a hands-on workshop titled “How to Train the AI Chatbot” was also organised, delivered in a hybrid format with both on-site and online participants from all partner organisations.

The project meeting focused on the progress of Work Package 3 (WP3) – Implementation and Training of the Chatbot, with particular emphasis on the development, training, and upcoming deployment of the intelligent AI chatbot built within the project. Discussions covered the results of the chatbot design and development activities, its training and testing, as well as the planned next steps related to its deployment and use in student education.

A key highlight of the programme was the international workshop “How to Train the AI Chatbot”, delivered in a blended (on-site and virtual) format.

    During the training, participants were introduced to the overall concept of the ChatToCaseStudy platform, which helps instructors create realistic case studies and practical tasks using generative artificial intelligence, grounding every output in the instructor’s own course materials through Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).

      During the presentation, participants were guided through the full workflow of the platform:

      • building a Knowledge Base by uploading and processing course materials;
      • automatically generating realistic Use Cases;
      • creating tasks aligned with Bloom’s Taxonomy;configuring the level of support the AI chatbot provides to students;
      • publishing tasks to specific courses;
      • tracking student activity, automatically generating feedback, and reviewing the conversations between students and the chatbot.

      Special attention was given to the instructor’s ability to control how the chatbot supports students (through hints, partial solutions, or full explanations) as well as to the mechanisms for monitoring learning and AI-assisted evaluation, with the final judgement always remaining in the instructor’s hands.

      The demonstration was followed by a question-and-answer session, during which partners discussed how the platform could be adapted to different university disciplines, as well as best practices for training and configuring the AI chatbot for educational purposes.

      The second day was dedicated to project coordination activities. Partners reviewed the current status of project management, preparation of the interim report, quality assurance activities, dissemination of results, project sustainability, and planning for the next six months. The consortium also discussed upcoming tasks, deadlines, and the next stages in the deployment and validation of the platform.

      The meeting confirmed the successful progress of the ChatToCaseStudy project and strengthened cooperation between the partner organisations. The workshop provided valuable hands-on preparation for using the AI chatbot in a real educational setting, while the discussions outlined the next steps towards its successful deployment in university education in cybersecurity, computer science, and data science.
