An Initiative Committee has been established for the construction of a monument to Academician Blagovest Sendov (1932 – 2020). The idea originates from the academic community of Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" and the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. The co-chairs of the committee are Prof. Anastas Gerdzhikov, the Rector of Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski," and Academician Julian Revalski, the Director of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.
The initiative also includes participation from the Mayor of Sofia, Yordanka Fandakova, the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Education and Science, Krasimir Valchev, the former Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski," Assoc. Prof. Parvan Parvanov, the Director of the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Prof. Peter Boyvalenkov, the Manager of GEOTECHMIN, Prof. Tsolo Voutov, Prof. Ognyan Gerdzhikov from Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski," Prof. Raytcho Lazarov from Texas A&M University, and Prof. Pencho Petrushev from the University of South Carolina.
The monument to Academician Sendov will be erected in the park area in front of the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski." A donation account has been set up in Bulgarian Leva at the Bulgarian National Bank:
