FMI skillfully combines its educational programs in professional fields with research activities, engaging students in the joint implementation of scientific and educational projects at both national and international levels. A "Strategy for Promoting PhD Students and Young Scientists at FMI of Sofia University (2013-2020)" has been developed.

The high quality of education is a natural consequence of the high level of scientific and applied research conducted at FMI, which addresses a broad range of contemporary scientific challenges.

FMI develops a modern information infrastructure for educational and research activities. Several specialized research centers and laboratories have been established within FMI, focusing on conducting high-quality scientific research.

The faculty library holds a collection of approximately 80,000 volumes, including the oldest collection of mathematical literature on the Balkan Peninsula. The computer laboratories are equipped with modern hardware and software, and the faculty building offers wireless internet access.
